Level 1 charging is the fancy term for plugging your EV into a standard
three-prong outlet using the cord that comes with the car - no equipment
installation is required, and it usually takes about 10 hours to fully recharge a
depleted battery. Level 2 charging, which has equipment installation options for
both private and public settings, is more powerful and generally takes about 5 hours
to fully recharge a battery. Level 3, or DC Fast, charging is currently only
available in public settings, is not compatible with all EVs, and takes about 40
minutes to fully recharge a battery. To learn more about levels of charging, visit
